Connected to the sewer, protected by dikes, depending on what is being arranged 'further away'.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But those who look differently see it better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roofs and sites determine how rainwater moves through the system. When water is drained directly, each building contributes to peak loads further down the chain. This effect is not always visible at the building level, but it is noticeable in the whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every building has an influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not every roof has the same impact on the water system. Roof area, urban context, drainage structure and shower type together determine whether rainwater causes a load, or offers opportunities for buffering and delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet, water management is often approached with uniform norms and standard solutions. This removes nuance. And it is precisely that nuance that makes the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What changes when you retain water?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By temporarily retaining water where it falls, the role of a building fundamentally changes. It will no longer be an end point, but a link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A link that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Slows the system down<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce peak load<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to more robust supply chains<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not require complicated interventions. Just a different way of looking at responsibility and possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responsibility doesn't have to be heavy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many building and land owners, water management feels like something abstract or grand. However, practice shows that it is simple, low-maintenance solutions that make the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not everything has to be perfect at once.
